Sewing creates a path out of poverty

Gift_732
Dear MSAF, Villin, Bhaskar, Cheri, and Brendan,

Maya, a young lady from the Vatva slum in Ahmedabad, India, lives amongst the poorest of the poor. She would like to participate in a sewing school community so that she can learn more sewing skills and engage in a team effort. By working with a group, she can increase her chances of creating sought-after designs and selling them to larger buyers.

Until now, she has been sewing women’s clothing and attempting to sell it during the wedding season and religious festivals. She cannot leave the home and travel far to make the sales so her chances of accumulating any income are very small.

Your donation will help Maya and several other young women receive training to sew on newer machines and make sales. Finished goods will be sold locally as well as through the Shanti Life online marketplace.
